Dalkia (now MITIE) Scottish Government Data Centre

AMS Ltd were appointed by Dalkia, on behalf of the Scottish Government, to carry out the project management and CDM Project Co-ordinator role for a new data centre project in Edinburgh. The initial phase to obtain client approval involved the design and cost management of the project. This involved the design, tender and delivery of a new HV infrastructure from the primary network and an HV ring within the site. Further phases involved the delivery of a new data centre facility to the latest standards, taking into account energy efficiency and environmental considerations, which will provide a very resilient facility for the Scottish Government.

The phased approach ultimately built one room , migrated IT over to the new room before construction work was carried out on the original room. This allowed the Scottish Government to increase their space, cooling and power capacities for future expansion without any IT interruption.
